EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), also known as tapping, is a method that combines gentle tapping on specific points of your body while focusing on emotions or physical sensations that cause distress. This helps release emotional blocks and restore balance.
Here’s how to do it:
Identify the Issue: Begin by identifying the feeling or problem you want to address, such as stress, anxiety, or discomfort.
Rate Your Intensity: On a scale of 0 to 10, rate the intensity of your feeling or issue. This helps track your progress.
Set Your Intention: Create a simple phrase that describes your feeling or issue, such as "Even though I feel anxious, I deeply and completely accept myself." This helps guide the tapping process.
Tap on the Points: Using two fingers, gently tap on each of these points 5-7 times while repeating your phrase. Move through the following points:
- The side of your hand (karate chop point)
- Eyebrow (inner part, closest to the bridge of your nose)
- Side of your eye (temple area)
- Under the eye (below the pupil)
- Under the nose (above your upper lip)
- Chin (in the crease below your bottom lip)
- Collarbone (just below the hard ridge of your collarbone)
- Under the arm (about 4 inches below the armpit)
- Top of the head (center of your scalp)
Repeat the process: After one round of tapping, take a deep breath and reassess your intensity level. If it hasn’t dropped to zero, repeat the process, adjusting your phrase if needed.
End with acceptance: Even if the intensity hasn’t completely disappeared, finish the session by acknowledging any shifts and accepting yourself as you are.
You can use EFT tapping as often as you need, especially during times of stress or emotional overload.
