Accessibility features in Sia
Sia is designed for highly sensitive persons with accessibility built into every interaction. Learn about the features that make Sia comfortable and usable for everyone.
Designed for Sensitivity
- Sia is built specifically for Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs) and neuro-sensitive individuals. Our accessibility approach prioritizes calm, gentle interactions that respect the needs of our sensitive user base.
- The entire app experience has been crafted to minimize overwhelm while maximizing usability for everyone.
Text Size Adjustment
- Sia includes a built-in text scaling feature that lets you adjust text size throughout the entire app.
- Six size options are available: Small (85%), Medium Small (92.5%), Default (100%), Medium Large (110%), Large (120%), and Extra Large (130%).
- Access text size settings from your MySia dashboard. Changes apply instantly across all screens and are saved to your preferences.
- The text size slider provides real-time preview so you can find the perfect size for comfortable reading.
Calming Dark Theme
- Sia uses a carefully designed dark color scheme to reduce eye strain and visual overwhelm.
- The dark theme is optimized for sensitive users, featuring soft contrasts and muted accent colors that are easier on the eyes, especially in low-light environments.
- Color choices follow HSP-friendly design principles, avoiding harsh brightness while maintaining clear readability.
HSP-Friendly Animations
- All animations in Sia are designed with sensitive users in mind. We use gentle, smooth transitions with carefully calibrated timing.
- Animation speeds are optimized to feel natural without being jarring: subtle micro-interactions use 200ms timing, standard transitions use 250-400ms, and important state changes use smooth 600-650ms easing.
- Motion curves prioritize ease-out and sine-wave patterns that feel organic and calming rather than abrupt.
Visual Style Options
- Choose from three card display styles to match your visual preferences:
- Classic: Image-based cards with photos and illustrations.
- Mycelium: Organic bioluminescent network design (default), optimized for HSP-friendly aesthetics.
- Minimal: Clean text-only cards for reduced visual stimulation and maximum readability.
- Access card style options from the app drawer menu.
Screen Reader Support
- Sia includes accessibility labels for screen readers (VoiceOver on iOS, TalkBack on Android).
- Key interactive elements include descriptive labels, such as the breathing exercise guide which announces current breathing phases.
- We are continuously improving screen reader support across the app. If you encounter areas that need better accessibility labels, please let us know.
Touch Targets
- Interactive elements in Sia are sized for comfortable touch interaction.
- Buttons and tappable areas follow platform guidelines: minimum 44x44 points on iOS and 48x48 density-independent pixels on Android.
- This ensures easy navigation for users with motor impairments or those who prefer larger touch targets.
Privacy-First Accessibility
- Your accessibility preferences, like text size and card style, are stored locally on your device.
- These settings persist across sessions and are never transmitted to external servers.
- If you use cloud backup, your preferences are included in your encrypted backup data.
Feedback and Improvements
- We are committed to making Sia accessible to everyone. If you have suggestions for improving accessibility, please contact us.
- Your feedback helps us identify areas where we can better support users with different needs.
- Planned accessibility improvements include additional animation controls, enhanced screen reader support, and more customization options.
