What Sia Is
Understanding the app, who it's for, and how it differs from other tools.
Sia is a mobile app that provides situation-specific guidance and practical techniques for highly sensitive people (HSPs). It's not a meditation app, not a therapy replacement, and not another generic wellness tool. It's a structured toolkit with 37+ real-world situations (like "crowded places," "sudden noises," or "dealing with criticism") and 100+ techniques you can apply immediately or explore more deeply.
How It Works
Personalization, search, ratings, and the technical mechanics.
Sia doesn't use algorithms that watch your behavior to predict what you want. Personalization is user-driven: you rate techniques after trying them (1-10 scale), mark what you're practicing, and save what works. The app surfaces your highest-rated techniques and shows patterns based on your own input. You control what counts as "effective" — we don't decide for you.
Privacy & Security
Where your data lives, how it's protected, and what we can (and can't) see.
All personal data: mood tracking, journal entries, technique ratings, HSP profile results, your Relief Toolbox, personal notes, and achievement streaks. This data is encrypted using AES-256-CBC and never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud backup (which is also encrypted). We literally cannot read your journal entries — they exist only on your phone.
For Coaches & Practitioners
How therapists, coaches, and counselors can use Sia with clients.
Yes, and many therapists, coaches, and counselors do. Sia works as a between-session resource — clients can track patterns, practice techniques, and access situation-specific guidance when they're not in your office. The privacy-first design means their personal data stays on their device, which matters for clinical settings.
Common Concerns
Skeptical questions and honest answers.
No. Generic wellness apps offer meditation, sleep stories, and mood tracking for everyone. Sia is specifically designed for HSP nervous systems — the situations are HSP-specific (sensory overload, emotional flooding, social overstimulation), the UI is optimized for people who get overstimulated by busy interfaces, and the personalization is user-controlled rather than algorithmically invasive.
Getting Started
First steps and what to expect.
No. Guest mode gives you full access to everything. Creating an account (via Google or Apple) only enables cloud backup and cross-device sync. If you value maximum privacy, Guest mode is the way to go. Your personal data works identically in both modes — encrypted and local.
